Our method

Every student learns differently. That's why our approach always starts with the question: What do you need to progress in your studies, work or creative career? At De Taalkamer, we combine our Dutch and English language training with personal guidance and assignments that match your practice.

Instead of focusing on theory, we emphasize real-world application. Students practice conversations they'll have in English during their studies, designers learn to present their plans convincingly in Dutch, and teachers gain the tools to confidently stand in front of the class.

Our method focuses not only on language skills but also on building self-confidence and independence. We want students to not only improve their communication but also enjoy language and gain the tools to grow independently.

Active and dynamic learning

Our lessons are designed to get you practicing actively from day one. By speaking, writing, and listening extensively in realistic situations, your language skills will grow rapidly. You'll notice immediate results because you'll immediately apply the language in conversations and assignments relevant to your daily practice.

Practical and goal-oriented

Each Dutch-English language course is tailored to the student's world and field of expertise. Students prepare for their studies, architects learn to present their ideas convincingly, and teachers strengthen their confidence in speaking English in front of the class. This way, learning remains goal-oriented and immediately applicable in both study and work.

What are the specific steps involved in submitting an application?

1. The intake: We begin each training session with an intake and level assessment. Together, we'll explore your needs, any challenges you face, and the learning goals we want to achieve. The intake and level assessment, which consists of a short speaking and writing exercise, can be conducted online or in person.

2. You receive an offer: After the intake, we will send you a quote. You can find the costs of our training courses at the Rates page.

3. Matching trainer: After you approve the quote, we connect one of our trainers to the student(s). We have a large database (find another word) of trainers with diverse backgrounds who can best align with the student's study or work environment. All trainers are native speakers and have experience with the target groups we serve. Their goal: to ensure that everyone progresses with enjoyment.

4. Monitoring and evaluation We conduct two evaluations per course, which are shared with the client (employer or contact person at the educational institution). One after a few lessons, to ensure we're on track, and one at the end of the course.
